Used Berg ice maker (a.k.a shell ice machine) will make ice by trickling water down the outside of chilled stainless steel tubes.
When this ice reaches the desired thickness, refrigerant flow valves actuate so that hot refrigerant flows thru the tubes, slightly melting the ice, causing it to release from the tube and fall into a collection trough where it is conveyed to carts to be transported. The shell ice can also be crushed. This unit requires a supply of refrigerant, this is only the ice head.
